WITHIN the framework of promoting a strategy of cooperation with the participants in the country’s industrial system, King Abdullah Port, the first fully privately owned, developed and operated port in the Kingdom and the Middle East, welcomed a delegation from the National Industrial Committee (NIC) in the Council of Saudi Chambers. The delegation included NIC Chairperson Eng. Osama A. Al Zamil and its members.

The delegation was welcomed by Rayan Qutub, CEO of King Abdullah Port, along with other officials of the port. At the end of the visit, each side announced the appointment of a communications officer for activating cooperation between both parties; with the goal to achieve a partnership that can contribute to supporting national industry within King Abdullah Economic City, represented by King Abdullah Port.

Qutub said: “We are honored to welcome the Chairperson of NIC and his accompanying delegation. This visit has been a good opportunity to introduce the delegation to King Abdullah Port and review the prospects of partnership and cooperation between both sides, which provides us with the support to enhance our contribution to local and international logistics industries and better contribute to achieving the goals of the Kingdom’s Vision 2030.”

“King Abdullah Port is the latest mega infrastructure project in the Middle East. Built to state-of-the-art specifications, it was designed and implemented to cater for the Kingdom’s economic and commercial growth for decades to come,” Qutub added. He also noted that King Abdullah Port “seeks to play a complementary role with all relevant entities, including the industrial sector, represented by NIC, allowing for the support of the Kingdom’s growth and development journey.”

Eng. Al Zamil said: “We are delighted with our visit to King Abdullah Port and the hospitality given to us. We have seen the massive efforts of the port’s team and we believe there are great cooperation opportunities between us that can positively contribute to the growth of the Kingdom’s industrial sector.”

Vision 2030 has dedicated one of its programs to advancing national industries and logistics services with the goal to develop domestic production and exports in the fields of mining, energy, technology, robotics and others. This includes improving the infrastructure and developing the logistics services necessary for making the Kingdom an industrial and logistics platform between Asia, Africa and Europe.

Earlier this month, King Abdullah Port announced a 21% increase in its annual throughput in 2017; becoming the second largest port in the Kingdom in terms of container handling.
