JEDDAH — Inspectors at Jeddah municipality have documented 446 violations in female-only shops, beauty salons, and boutiques. The field tours included 4,075 visits in 2017. Out of the 2,330 visited female shops 112 were found in violation of different rules and regulations. Of the 803 beauty salons visited, 265 were found to be violating rules and and out of 924 boutiques, 69 were in violation of different rules.
Violations ranged from not renewing the licenses, not putting a plate indicating that the shop is for families only, using foreign names for the business, having unlicensed female workers and employing female employers with expired health licenses in beauty salons. Violations also include not adhering to the hygiene, not wearing uniforms or not putting on health badges.
