JEDDAH — The Technical and Vocational Training Corporation (TVTC) has announced a program to teach Saudi women how to drive and maintain cars.

The training will be conducted by the International Colleges of Excellence.

The corporation said it will start 11 training programs from March 16 to train about 5,000 Saudi men and women on various skills including repair and maintenance of electronic equipment, car maintenance, computer repair, photography, embroidery and others.

The one-month training program will cost SR200.

Meanwhile, Princess Nourah Bint Abdulrahman University in Riyadh has conducted interviews with 15 Saudi women candidates to work as driving and car maintenance instructors in its women driving school which it opened following the royal order to allow women to drive cars from June.

The interviews were conducted by a specialized company in Dubai with which the university has signed a contract to teach women how to drive and repair cars. The university said its driving school will open within the next two weeks and asked all interested women to join.
