The designs of the signboards for the new speed limit have been completed, informed sources told Sabq online newspaper.

The implementation of the decision is set to begin within the next few weeks.

According to preliminary information, speed limit is going to be increased to 140 kph on Riyadh-Taif, Riyadh-Eastern Province, Riyadh-Qassim and Makkah-Madinah expressways.

The Special Forces for Road Security denied social media rumors that speed limits on highways have already been increased.

According to informed sources, the Ministry of Transport will put up guiding and warning signboards showing speed limits.

They stressed that motorists should follow the current speed limits and instructions on the signboards to avoid being penalized for violations.
