JEDDAH — Farida de Guzman became the first back-to-back Bowler of the Month champion with another strong performance during the February leg of the OFBC (Overseas Filipino Bowlers Club) monthly series at the Iceland Bowling Center.

Rodel Tacson registered probably the first win of any significance in his bowling career, picking up pace after a slow start to become the men’s Bowler of the Month champion for February.

Tacson, a Class C bowler with a 12 handicap per game, returned a winning five-game series of 938 with Dan Garret Mojares, another Class C bowler, clinching first runner-up on 928.

Tacson rolled scratch games of 156, 182, 189, 175 and 185 while Mojares shot lines of 161, 149, 188, 182 and 188.

Jaime Flores claimed second runner-up on 926 (152, 225, 122, 160 and 187). Rico Bulalayao enjoyed a podium finish for the second straight time by taking the third runner-up spot on 922 (143, 161, 218, 187 and 173).

De Guzman pulled through against a rival with higher handicap than her in Vilma Miranda to post her second straight victory in the series leading up to the Bowler of the Year Finals in December.

De Guzman fired a five-game series of 841 onlines of 146, 133, 146, 167 and 129.

Miranda, with a 32 handicap to De Guzman’s 24, tallied 799 (122, 164, 122, 110 and 121).

Carmen Duma was second runner-up on 796, edging out Malou Nidoy by a pin.

Duma’s scores per game were 136, 125, 135, 150 and 130. Nidoy carded 144, 156, 164, 137 and 154.

The winners received cash prizes during the awards ceremony.
