MENA’s first Mums@Work Career Fair to debut in Dubai

February 18, 2018

FOLLOWING the success of its ‘Return to Work’ program in 2017, Mums@Work, a UAE-based organization dedicated to bringing talented women back to the workforce, has announced that it will be hosting the region’s first Return to Work Career Fair. The event will provide the perfect platform for businesses to connect with highly talented and experienced women from amongst the 50,000 professionals within the Mums@Work community.

The event is perfectly aligned with the vision of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, and the Gender Balance Council’s goals to make the UAE amongst the top 25 countries globally for gender equality by 2021.

The full day event will offer 100 women an opportunity to share their experiences and talent with companies, including EY, Visa, Standard Chartered Bank, APCO International and Hilton Group, amongst others. The candidates will also benefit from the advice and support of the Mums@Work career coach partners before and on the day.

Louise Karim, Managing Director of Mums@Work, part of the Mackenzie Jones group, said: “We are very proud to be hosting the region’s first ever Return to Work Career Fair. The event supports professional women who have taken a break from their careers and are now ready to rejoin the workforce. With over 50,000 women in our community, we have some of the best talent in the region which may otherwise have been overlooked by employers without a platform such as ours. The event is a perfect opportunity for our candidates to network and build meaningful professional relationships with some of the best global brands, who may choose to hire them for either ‘returnships’ or permanent roles.”

The Return to Work Career Fair will be held at DoubleTree by Hilton Dubai - Business Bay, Dubai from 9am to 1pm on March 1, 2018.

She added: “With reports showing that fully-integrating women into the workforce has tremendous benefits for the economy, and as the UAE moves towards being a global leader in gender equality, we are confident that this event will help shift perceptions in the region and be an important step towards making ‘returnships’ normal practise across the country.”

Omaira Farooq Al Olama, Managing Director at ALF Administration, a local company that helps train Emiratis to develop skills necessary for success in the work place, said: "The Mums@Work Return to Work Career Fair is both timely and essential for the UAE. This exceptional platform empowers women of all nationalities by giving them critical support and assuring them that the time they took off work won’t hinder their ability to have a successful career. With the numerous benefits that this inclusion can have for the economy, I urge people and companies in the UAE to adopt the ‘Return To work’ mentality.” — SG
