Saudi Gazette report

RIYADH — The Ministry of Education will announce a new health insurance scheme for male and female teachers in place of the current policy, which will expire in less than two months, the Makkah newspaper reported.

According to Dr. Ahmed Qiran, director of Initiatives Center at the ministry, the new medical insurance document will be issued by the same provider — Takaful Al-Rajhi. To get the document issued, the teacher has to complete the procedures by visiting the ministry. “A team is studying the conditions of the new document, which will be announced soon. The number of male and female teachers who signed for medical insurance was high and this indicates increased awareness about the importance of medical insurance,” he said.

Staff members and their dependents will benefit from the optional medical insurance, which is subject to the conditions and regulations of the Council of Cooperative Health Insurance.

The prices of premiums are commensurate with the status of teachers, who will be able to access high-quality medical services at private hospitals.

Qiran stressed that medical insurance is optional. Teachers who want to sign up will have to pay monthly premiums through the ministry. The ministry will measure the performance of the insurance provider to ensure that the company can meet the healthcare needs of teachers and will address all complaints lodged by them.
