Parents must teach children the values of Islam

When the Kingdom provided the opportunity for all members of society to excel and recognized the importance of female participation in many aspects of life and granted women the right to drive, participate in different types of sports and enter stadiums, it did so without compromising our values as a society. These changes are considered by many to be a drastic change for Saudis but it is also a welcome change during a time full of promises, accomplishments and visions for the future.

All of this ensures personal freedoms for everyone and covers both private and public interests. For example, it allows families to have the freedom of choice depending on their needs and social circumstances without any force. This is where the family’s role begins wherein they raise and teach their children the values of Islam before the young enter the real world and meet new people with new ideas.

The issue of abiding by the morals and values taught at home is something that affects people everywhere. Saudi tourists and students studying abroad stay strong and follow the teachings of Islam even though there are many forbidden temptations. In general, Muslims hold on to their values and beliefs and temptations only strengthen their faith.

Today, we witness some individuals trying to distort the image of Saudi society by wrongfully explaining religious texts. This includes the mixing of men and women, dancing in the streets and using social media to look for attention and distract the younger generation from their goals and future.

Lastly, explaining things out of context will be followed by a strict response from government officials so that everyone understands that this opportunity that has been granted by our government is only because it cares for its citizens and wants people to utilize their capabilities for the benefit of society.
