JEDDAH
— Johara Palot, best remembered for having won the most number of Bowler of the Month titles last season, struck for her first in the current OFBC (Overseas Filipino Bowlers Club) Bowler of the Month series by winning the March competition at the Iceland Bowling Center.

Tope Sayson was the men’s Bowler of the Month, also posting his breakthrough victory in runaway fashion.

Sayson, a Class C bowler with 12 handicap per game, rode a strong opening two games of 180 and 194 to a winning five-game series with handicap total of 937. His last three games were 166, 148 and 189.

Finishing first runner-up to Sayson was Class B player Rico Bulalayao on 892 that was built from lines of 149, 158, 156, 191 and 200.

Alex Duma, who recently won the No-Tap King and Queen Season 2 tournament with wife Carmen Duma, was second runner-up on 872 (152, 193, 163, 166 and 158).

Jack Jarin, Class B like Duma, completed the podium winners at third runner-up after shooting 867 (148, 161, 161, 162 and 195).

Palot’s margin of victory was even more impressive than Sayson’s — 60 pins over first runner-up Vicky Juayno.

Palot carded total pinfalls of 865 in five games to Juayno’s 805.

Palot fired scratch games of 140, 161, 153, 133 and 158. Juayno, on the other hand, rolled games of 101, 138, 128, 100 and 138.

Carmen matched husband Alex’s finish in the March tournament as she compiled 804 to be the second runner-up with Vilma Miranda third runner-up on 786.

The winners received cash prizes during the awards ceremony.
