HFF bids farewell to poet Ayub Sabir

– “Poets and writers are the mirrors of society. They portray the true images of the happenings in their writings while on the other hand their imaginative and creative works amazes the readers. Ayub Sabir is such a great writer and poet, who successfully managed to inspire his readers,” said President HFF Dr. Muhammad Riaz Chaudhary while presiding over a literary gathering arranged by Halqa-e-Fikr-O-Funn (HFF) to bid farewell to prominent poet Muhammad Ayub Sabir at Kashana-e-Adab here.

Sabir was born in a village near Sialkot, Pakistan, on Sept. 6, 1965. He arrived in Saudi Arabia in 1990 and served the literary circles for about 28 years besides his successful professional career in a five star hotel in Dhahran. He has six collections of books to his name including Ayzaz ki Qeemat, Dareecha-e-Zarafat, Aazan-e-Sahar, Nuskha ha-e-Latafat, Aslaaf ki Dastak and Aangan ki Khushboo.

Halqa-e-Fikr-O-Funn has organized a farewell ceremony and a Mushaira (poetry session) in honor of the prominent poet and writer for his outstanding literary contributions. The farewell was highly attended by the numbers of poets, writers, intellectuals and poetry lovers. The entire program was ably conducted by the HFF General Secretary Waqar N. Wamiq that began with the recitation of the few verses of Holy Qur’an by Prof. Dr. Mahmood Ahmed Bajwa followed by a soulful Naat presented by Muhammad Shoaib Shahzad.

Chief Coordinator of Halqa-e-Fikr-O-Funn Dr. Tariq Aziz highly praised the literary contributions of Sabir in his article that he presented during the ceremony. “Ayub has shown some extraordinary abilities in his writings. His poetry and prose equally attracts his readers and his humor is so fascinating for the readers,” Aziz said.

Nazim-e-Aala HFF Javid Akhtar Javid from Pakistan and Deputy Secretary Hina Ambreen from Canada sent their best wishes to Sabir on his farewell. VP Sabir Qashang and Wamiq also wished Ayub on his upcoming endeavors. Sabir was awarded a shield of appreciation in recognition of his brilliant literary works and services by Halqa-e-Fikr-O-Funn.

Sabir was quite humbled by the words of praise at the farewell event. “I am so glad for this honor given to me today and I am so thankful to Halqa-e-Fikr-O-Funn for such a great recognition of my literary works and services. I must say that Halqa-e-Fikr-O-Funn is one of the mainstream, oldest and finest literary organization working in Saudi Arabia,” Sabir said.

The farewell ceremony then followed by a Mushaira in Sabir’s honor. Several poets including Ghazala Kamrani, Saleem Hasrat, Shoaib Shahzad, Yasmeen Zahir, Masood Jamal, Muhammad Sabir Qashang, Yousaf Ali Yousaf, Wamiq, Shahzad Ajmi, Hamayoun Akhter, Sajjad Chauhdary, Kamran Malik, Meem Sheen Kamil, Mansoor Chauhdary, Mohsen Raza Samar and Muhammad Ayub Sabir presented their poetries in the Mushaira, whereas, some of the poets paid rich poetic tribute to the outgoing poet and got applause and appreciation from the audience. The program ended on a vote of thanks by senior HFF member Amin Tajir and Dua-e-Khair by Hafiz Abdul Wahid.
