CAIRO — Since early morning today, large number of Egyptians started voting in around 27 cities, to select their next president. The Egyptian presidential elections 2018 started today and will end on the 28th of March. Egyptians are going to select one of two candidates including the current Egyptian president Abdel Fattah El Sisi.

Egyptian president Abdel Fattah El Sisi was the first to vote today. He followed all the procedures like any Egyptian citizen.

Police and army forces are around the Egyptian cities to ease the election process and protect electorates.

Nahla Kassas, a 55 year old housewife, said that she is going to vote for El Sisi. She believes that the majority is going to select him.

“I’m voting today as it’s the right for any citizen to choose their president. I believe that everyone should go and vote,” she said.

“I’m voting for El Sisi, as he did his best in the past four years. After 25th of January, Egypt was in a very dark tunnel but now things have totally changed. He promised to save the country and he did,” said Kassas.

Ahmed Nizar, a 35 year old engineer, believe that those who are not willing to vote should not complain in the future.

“I voted in the first hour after the elections started. I voted for Abdel Fattah El Sisi. I guess the majority will vote for him. I believe it’s not about who to vote for but it’s about the whole process. Voting is a very civilized and a democratic image of our country,” said Nizar.

“It’s the first day and the early hours of the elections but I saw huge numbers of electorates. I believe that we will witness huge numbers this year,” said Nizar.

Ahmed Nashaat, a 27 year old Egyptian and a property advisor, believe that voting is a national duty.

“People are celebrating once again. We are voting with a high credibility. We are choosing our next president and it’s something that’s very civilized. Security is strong; they are putting a huge effort to ease the voting process,” said Ahmed.

“I’ll vote after my working hours. It’s a national duty. It’s not about which candidate to vote for but it’s about voting,” said Ahmed.
