Airbus’ Little Engineer A380 workshops take center stage

DUBAI — Airbus has announced that the Airbus Little Engineer A380 assembly workshop has taken place at the fourth annual ‘Future Aviators Youth Week’ organized by the General Civil Aviation Authority (GCAA) in Fujairah.

During a two-day workshop, more than 60 Emirati students (males and females) between the ages of 13 and 15 years old, learned to identify the key components that are needed to build an A380 aircraft and familiarised themselves with the assembly and manufacture processes of the world’s biggest passenger airliner. Students also learned related aspects of Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM).

The Airbus Little Engineer is an initiative of the Airbus Foundation committed to encouraging students to better understand and embrace innovative technology. It is also aimed at igniting a passion in school children in aviation that could grow into an exciting career in the fields of Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics.

Since its launch in 2012, the Airbus Little Engineer programme has inspired over 4,000 students to take part in its activities across Africa and Middle East

The 5-day Future Aviators Youth Week event, organized by the Higher Colleges of Technology in Fujairah, provides students with opportunities to meet with faculty members, discuss their interest in higher education and encourages them to choose employment in aviation.

The program includes lectures and workshops related to the civil aviation sector and a number of competitions, activities, and field visits to important civil aviation sector facilities in Fujairah including the Fujairah International Airport.
