MOFA hosts diplomats, spouses at Al-Tayebat Museum

JEDDAH
— The Ministry of Foreign Affairs hosted several consuls general and distinguished diplomats alongside their spouses at the Museum of Al-Tayebat International City of Science and Knowledge here at the weekend.

The diplomats took a tour around various pavilions of the museum, exploring Saudi and Hejazi cultures, guided by experienced tourist guides such as Samer Komosani, Tawfig Al-Sayegh and others.

Ambassador Jamal Balkhoyor, director general of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs' Makkah Region branch, thanked all the consuls general and diplomats for the visit. He also appreciated the staff at the museum for their efforts in preserving the artefacts including several items from the history and the civilization of Saudi Arabia.

Ambassador Balkhoyor honored the tourist guides and the staff of the museum. It was followed by the traditional Saudi Ardha dance and the traditional Hejazi dance. The ceremony concluded with a sumptuous dinner.

Kabir Rahman, deputy consul general of Britain and Northern Ireland in Jeddah, noted: “First of all I would like to thank the Ministry of Foreign Affairs for putting this interesting program this evening. I am fascinated by the museum. It's a gem. Actually it should be more widely publicized and certainly this won't be my last visit here. I also enjoyed the arts performances in the evening where I had the opportunity to take part in Ardha dance.”

Dr. Bagavudin Aliev, consul general of the Russian Federation, said: “I think our visit to this museum was remarkable. I was surprised at the size of the museum and the exhibits. I think this is one of the best museums in the Arabian peninsula.”

Ali Karanouh, consul general of Lebanon, said: “This initiative was so beautiful. I was a family atmosphere and the tourist guides were perfect; they guided us through the different pavilions, sections, artifacts and portraits. It was so nice to see the important, beautiful and rich history of this country.”

The Museum of Al-Tayebat International City of Science and Knowledge was established by Abdulraouf Khalil. The museum has a wide collection of artifacts such as ancient documents about the history of Islam, ancient coins, tools, costumes, swords, medical equipment, paintings, carpets, wall hangings from different countries, distinctive furniture also historical gems and jewelry from all around the globe and many other treasures from the national and the international history.
