RIYADH — A recent government survey has revealed that about 60 percent of the Saudi women cannot wait to drive their cars when they are allowed to take the streets in June, according to Al-Hayat newspaper on Tuesday.

The survey, conducted by King Abdul Aziz Center for National Dialogue, said about 79 percent of the surveyed women do not know much about the techniques related to driving.

It said about 31 percent of the women have no desire to drive their own cars while about nine percent of them are undecided.

The survey covered 1,128 Saudi women in various parts of the Kingdom of whom about 41 percent are employed, 36 percent housewives and 11 percent students.

About 67 percent of the surveyed women are holders of bachelor degrees while 11 percent of them are holders of high degrees including master's and Ph.Ds.

The survey said many women have no idea about some services concerning driving such as the procedures to obtain a diving license, the Motor Vehicles Periodic Inspection (MVPI), the insurance and the issues related to car accidents.

It said only about 21 percent of the women have vague idea of the services concerning car driving.
