The commerce ministry raids

CORRUPTION is considered the worst enemy for the future of the people and the country; it is a dangerous virus that shakes the very foundations of the nation. Hence, our government has accorded top priority to combat corruption in all its forms and manifestations. Confronting corruption is as important as fighting an invading enemy. Fighting corruption is the first stage in laying the foundation for real development and progress.

We are at a critical stage of transparency and accountability. The Ministry of Commerce and Investment began fighting commercial fraud by raiding the locations of greedy businessmen and makers of fake products. The raids are being carried out in cooperation with security authorities and they targeted mainly locations where fake food products and logos are made.

This is a great work, and the ministry should be thanked for their great efforts and responsibility toward the health of consumers. We have seen through social media how some businessmen are faking products in Jeddah, Riyadh and many other cities. We have seen how they are preparing food in bad and unhygienic environment, which reflects negatively on the health of consumers. We have seen how they are producing fake home cleaning products in large quantities. They bring the raw material and make these products at home and then put a fake logo of the genuine product on the fake ones.

This cheating operation is not done by individuals, but by an organized gang that is expert in commercial fraud. The owner of the building where illegal products are manufactured and stored, is a partner in crime. Any individual who helped in transporting these products is a partner in crime. Even those who helped in making fake logos or designing them is a partner in crime. Like I said, it is an organized group that is working to damage the health of consumers.
