Al-Waha International School celebrates Young Artists

— Art exhibitions are as old as art itself, and exhibiting children’s art is essential to bring out the artist in them. The art exhibition for the year 2017-18 was conducted at Al Waha International School last week, and it emulated the hope and aspirations of children in becoming the artists of tomorrow.

The art teacher Aalima Ali along with her team embellished the school auditorium with art pieces of her students from grade 4 to 9. The art exhibition is held every alternate year and displays student’s all year long work. “I want my students’ expressions and ideas highlighted, and I motivated them by showing my work and engraining the belief that art gives freedom, power, peace, and happiness,” remarked Ali. “I am blessed with best students in the world and each one of them try to give their best. “

She appreciated Sharangi Dhurandhar, art assisstant, efforts, and said, “She is the pillar of strength and without her everything would have been impossible.”

She thanked the management Seema Anees, Oula Fawad and Farah Zahid for their support. The exhibition started with the ribbon cutting ceremony by the Chief Guests Rubab Azam and Fazeena Zacky, board of directors. Students of Al Waha poured out their creativity and talent on the canvas and filled attendees with awe.

Sidrah and Rumaisa represented grade 6 theme drawing of a circus, life underwater, famous landmarks, pointillism, dress design and jewelry. Zaina Rayess a student from grade 5 said, “I am nervous, but everything here makes me excited as it celebrates the joy and color of art.”

Impressive artwork was judged by Sahar Enayi, Fatimah Ali and Fatima Basaddiq. “It is absolutely difficult to pick a few from all these exclusive pieces of artwork. Every piece has a different texture and it is beautiful in its own way,” Ali told Saudi Gazette. “I believe that painting talks to you, it shows the confusion, solitude, joy and every other feeling of the artist.”

Sefana Abdullah from Grade 8, said, “Really happy as school gave us the opportunity to show our talents and personal skills.”

3D sketches stole the limelight as it was not just simple piece of art, but tricked its viewers with optical illusion.

School’s Principal Mrs. Eman acknowledge Aalima Ali’s hard work and great experience. “She has inspired her students with her ability and boosted student’s imagination.”

Bushra Nadwi the head of administration was amazed with the exhibition, “The art exhibition has been happening for years, and every time Aalima and her students have managed to bring something completely new. It is overwhelming.”

Grade 4 displayed Line work and origami whereas the other group had oil pastels drawing. Fazeeha Zacky expressed her feelings, stating, “This exhibition is a platform for expression and to show children’s work; Aalima Ali and her team are the brains behind it.”

Rubab Azam told Saudi Gazette, “This art exhibition represents learning in cross curricular way; it is not just art but integration of science, digital art, religion and language together. Art develops mind, motor skills, increases knowledge and ability to think.”

The exhibition came to an end with a lucky draw and winners got the paintings from the art teacher Aalima Ali.

Oula Fawad headmistress middle school expressed her delight, “I am surprised, overwhelmed and amazed to see this kind of effort put in by children.” She thanked the art teacher whose motivation and talent is being transferred to students.
