Al-Ghafees honors Princess Seeta Award winners

RIYADH — Princess Seeta Bint Abdulaziz Prize for Excellence in Social Work was announced Tuesday.

The foundation honored the winners for its fifth session, in the presence of Dr. Ali Bin Nasser Al-Ghafees, Minister of Labor and Social Development; chairman of the Board of Trustees of the award, Prince Fahd Bin Abdullah Bin Mohammed Bin Saud Al-Kabeer; Dr. Fahd Al-Maghlouth, member of the board of trustees and secretary general of the award, .

Dr. Al-Ghafees welcomed the attendees and praised Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques and the Crown Prince for their outstanding interest in the foundation and their support.

He stressed the role of his ministry in promoting the concept of volunteering and increase its members in line with the Kingdom's Vision 2030, wishing the winners all the best.

Dr. Al-Maghlouth also welcomed the attendees and stressed that the award will be a symbol of cultural and humane enlightenment for mankind.

Dr. Al-Maghlouth, announced the winners with a short clip of the achievements of each candidate and their contributions to the service of society,

The winners of the prize at its fifth session and their four branches were: National Achievements in Social Work, between the Social Responsibility Program of Al-Jazira Bank and the National Defenders Program by the Deanship of Community Service and Sustainable Development University of Abdulrahman Al-Faisal. The second branch of initiatives to support and encourage the Islamic Waqf "Parental Waqf" by the Saudi Charity Association for Alzheimer's patients. The third section on excellence in programs for community service and sustainable development and projects of social work, won by (We Care) "Naraak" forum by Prince Sultan Bin Abdulaziz of Science and Technology (SciTech), and the fourth branch on social entrepreneurship in social work, and won by Princess Lolowah Al-Faisal, vice chairman of the Board of Trustees and the General Supervisor of Effat University for her pioneering role in her professional career in supporting social work with money and effort to empower women in society and sustain their business over many years.

Princess Lolowah confirmed that the award reflects the attributes of Princess Seeta — may Allah have mercy on her — because she has set an example of charity and community work.

Princess Lolowah is to donate the prize to open a fund in the name of Princess Seeta at Effat University and will award annually a scholarship to outstanding or needy students, according to the criteria set by the foundation.
