SAQCO KPL Season 3 tourney begins

DAMMAM — SAQCO Karnataka Premier League (KPL) Season 3 cricket Tournament, organized by SAB Sports Academy, began at Sabsa ground here recently.

Powered by Whitestone, the tournament is co-sponsored by Taibah Cavalry Est, Al-Muzain, Allianz, Al-Falah, Expertise, AHQ Rig Move and Support Gulf For Transportation Est.

Former India cricket captain Mohammed Azharuddin will be the chief guest for the final Friday. Big prizes are at stake as the winner will get SR33,333 and the runner-up SR17,777. There are other performance awards like best bowler, best batsman etc.

SAB Sports Academy is owned by Salman who has been promoting hard tennis ball cricket in the eastern region since many years.

The opening week of the tournament witnessed some entertaining matches that were telecast live on Youtube Channel 7070 Sports.

SASP CC defeated Iqbal Restaurant CC by 4 runs. Batting first, SASPCC managed 69 in 6 overs. Asif scored 25 off 9 balls, Sudhir 20 off 8, while Yahya claimed 3 wickets. In reply, IRCC reached 65, falling short by 4 runs. Kashif top scored with 34 off 15 balls.

Eastern Blue CC won against Blue United by 7 wickets. Batting first BUCC was restricted to 31 in 6 overs. Sajid grabbed 2 wickets. In reply, EBCC chased the target in 3.4 overs with Fawaz scoring 14. Dildar grabbed 2 wickets.

SASP CC defeated KFJ CC 12 runs. Batting first, SASPCC posted 73 in 6 overs. Rashid blasted 48 off 16 balls. Haris and Parvez took 2 wickets each. In reply, KFJCC managed 61. Majeed smashed 32 off 17. Mithun and Shafiq claimed 1 wicket each.

In another match, Index International CC thrashed UP Warriors by 21 runs. Batting first, Index CC tallied 55 in 6 overs. Shoaib made 13. Kamil grabbed 4 wickets. In reply, UP Warriors scored 34. Asif took 3 wickets.

Iqbal Restaurant CC won against Chick Time KL – 14 CC by 5 wickets. Batting first, CTKCC scored 42 in 6 overs. Zedullah and Mudassir claimed 2 wickets each. In reply, IRCC chased the target in the 6th over. Kashif made 12. Rana claimed 4 wickets.

UP Warriors won against Blue United by 3 wickets. Batting first, BUCC recorded 52 in 6 overs. Sandes contributed 23 off 13. Kamil grabbed 3 wickets. In reply, UWCC chased the target on the last ball of the match. Dildar and Fayaz took 2 wickets each.

In another match, SAB Warriors won against Al-Safa CC 9 wickets. Batting first, ALSCC managed only 13 in 6 overs. Rehan and Muthu took 2 wickets each. In reply, SABCC chased the target in 1.3 overs. Muthu scored 8 off 4. Nisar claimed 1 wicket.

Fastec Honda CC outplayed Sab Warriors CC by 24 runs. FHCC scored 64 in 6 overs while batting first. Saleem hit 17 off 7 and Waseem Chaman 13 off 9. Rehan claimed 3 wickets. In reply, SABCC managed 40. Ashfaq made 15 off 8. Waseem Chaman grabbed 3 wickets.

The two-day tourney will be over today. There will be lucky draws and refreshments will be served to the spectators. — SG
