RIYADH — The National Center for Privatization said it is going to announce new opportunities for the public and private partnerships (PPPs) in 10 sectors in line with Vision 2030.

The center said the privatization plans of the health sector are being implemented as scheduled and being supervised by pertinent committees headed by ministers of health and finance and the chairman of the center’s board of directors.

A public holding corporation and five companies were set up as a first step toward restructuring the health sector.

The supervisory committee has conducted a study on the sector and concluded that it would suggest nine potential PPPs with focus on the operation of hospitals and medical cities, rehabilitation centers, extended medical care, laboratories, pharmacies, and medical supplies.

The study focused also on transforming King Faisal Specialist Hospital and Research Center into a non-profit corporation in order to improve the quality of healthcare services.

The study highlighted the importance of having a government program that helps citizens get medical insurance.

The statement said Vision 2030 aims to create PPPs in the health sector in order to provide citizens with premium healthcare services and serve more patients around the country.

The center said new healthcare centers will be built in order to create competitiveness among all healthcare providers and improve the quality of services, most importantly meet the increasing demand for healthcare services.

The services will be provided in line with the best global practices to ensure sustainability.
