Royal reserves to be new tourist attractions

— Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman’s decree early Saturday to establish the Council of Royal Reserves will help promote natural landscape as a tourist destination.

The Council of Royal Reserves will be headed by Crown Prince Muhammad Bin Salman. It will have as members Prince Turki Bin Mohammed Bin Fahd Bin Abdulaziz, Prince Mohammed Bin Abdurrahman Bin Abdulaziz, Prince Abdulaziz Bin Saud Bin Naif Bin Abdulaziz, Prince Abdullah Bin Bandar Bin Abdulaziz, Prince Badr Bin Abdullah Bin Mohammed Bin Farhan and Minister of Environment, Water and Agriculture as well as two specialists to be chosen by the Council›s Chairman.

The royal natural reserves will constitute a new form of entertainment for citizens and residents. The natural reserves are public properties that can be opened to the public to get a glimpse of the country’s vast natural resources.

The royal decree stated that each natural reserve must have its own independent management and budget. The decree gave the Experts Commission at the Council of Ministers three months to appoint qualified leaders to handle the management of each reserve.

Rowdat Khuraim Natural Reserve, also known as Imam Abdulaziz Bin Muhammad Natural Reserve, has an area of 11,300 sq. km. The reserve will be under the presidency of Prince Turki Bin Muhammad Bin Fahd.

Mahazat Al-Said Natural Reserve, also known as Imam Saud Bin Abdulaziz Natural Reserve, has an area of 2,249 sq. meters. The reserve will be under the presidency of Prince Abdullah Bin Bandar Bin Abdulaziz.

Al-Taysiyah Natural Reserve, also known as Imam Turki Bin Abdullah Natural Reserve, has an area of 91,500 sq. km. The reserve will be under Prince Turki Bin Mohammad Bin Fahd.

Al-Tanahat Natural Reserve and Al-Khafs Natural Reserve, also known as King Abdulaziz Natural Reserve, has a combined area of 15,700 sq. km. The reserves will be under the presidency of Prince Abdulaziz Bin Saud Bin Naif.

Al-Kanqah Natural Reserve, Al-Tubaiq Natural Reserve and Hurrat Al-Harrah Natural Reserve, also known as King Salman Bin Abdulaziz Natural Reserve, have a combined area of 130,700 sq. km. The reserves will be under the presidency of Prince Abdulaziz Bin Saud Bin Naif.
