Crown Prince outlines road map for post-oil era of prosperity

— Monday (Ramadan 26) marks the first anniversary of the appointment of Prince Muhammad Bin Salman as Saudi Arabia’s crown prince and deputy premier.

The appointment was made by Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman after receiving an overwhelming majority support from the Allegiance Council.

This was at a time when Prince Muhammad, in his capacity as chairman of the Council of Economic and Development Affairs (CEDA), was spearheading vigorous reforms encompassing all vital spheres of life in the Kingdom.

Saudi Arabia, under the leadership of King Salman, has been witnessing an unprecedented development, thanks to the extraordinary reforms covering key government and private sectors over the past three years.

The decision to establish CEDA on Jan. 29, 2015, under the chairmanship of Prince Muhammad Bin Salman, was a landmark initiative in this regard.

Since then, Crown Prince Muhammad Bin Salman has taken a number of development initiatives in a record time through a system of reforms aimed at restructuring the state apparatus in order to create a promising future for the country, which is rich in human and natural resources without the total dependence on oil.

The development plans of Crown Prince have contributed to massive changes in the state machinery and society.

Women have been given a prominent role to play in the social, academic and economic life with several landmark decisions including the permission to drive.

CEDA, under the leadership of the Crown Prince, embarked on working out a series of strategic plans that were instrumental in positive outcome and remarkable achievements.

The Vision 2030 was the most important outcome of his keenness in implementing comprehensive economic reforms. Under the Vision, a road map has been drawn up for the Kingdom through 12 development programs aimed at strengthening the national economy and diversifying its sources of income.

CEDA also drew up 10 executive programs to achieve the Vision which included National Transformation Program 2020.

The Crown Prince approved in 2018 the plan to implement Privatization Program to improve the efficiency of the national economy, the quality of services and creating more jobs for Saudis.

He also approved the Quality of Life Program 2020 with a total allocation of SR130 billion to foster necessary environment for improving individual and family lifestyles.

Under the visionary leadership of the Crown Prince, the Kingdom is witnessing the implementation of massive development projects, including NEOM, Qiddiya, Red Sea and the world’s largest solar project.

The high profile visit of Crown Prince to the global powers including US, UK and France was also instrumental in boosting the Kingdom’s strategic ties with these countries in addition to attracting vast investments.

The Crown Prince is also in the forefront of Kingdom’s fight against terror with his remarkable role in the creation of the Anti-terror Islamic Military Alliance.
