Families savor string of events during Eid holidays in Kingdom

JEDDAH — A string of events are taking place across the Kingdom to celebrate Eid Al Fitr holidays, with scores of family focused events being conducting in Jeddah and all other major cities.

Thousands of people have been attending and enjoying the diverse entertainment events from display of spectacular fireworks to global famous circus shows beside high buzz of musical concerts from popular Egyptian singers.

General Entertainment Authority (GEA) has planned the Eid Holiday calendar with over 400 events across 23 cities.

The Russian Circus at Princess Norah Bin Abdulrahman University in Riyadh and maiden music concert of famous Egyptian singer Sherine Abdel Wahab at King Abdullah Economic City in Rabigh are among notable events during the Eid holidays.

The Red Sea bridal city Jeddah is seeing an increasing number of visitors that include Saudis and expatriates from various parts of Kingdom.

The newly opened waterfront area at Nawaras square at corniche here is witnessing huge crowds of visitors.

Thousands of people from Jeddah and also from other regions in Kingdom joined crowd in the corniche and enjoyed swimming and some boat riding. Cars were seen lined up bumper to bumper to just have a look of water view from the road.

Apart of adults, children were also enjoying swimming in the sea, with most of the visitors bringing bathing water with them, which is kept in their parked vehicles and used to clean their bodies after swimming in Red Sea.

East, north and southern parts of corniche in Jeddah witnessed mammoth gathering of visitors, including expatriates and Saudi citizens, with all apartments having beach front in the area were fully booked.

Capt. Faras Al Maliki, spokesperson of Saudi Border Guards in Makkah region, said that Border Guard have been on the alert and available to assist visitors at corniche area. The border guards can be reached at 994.

The officials urged people to not sail or swim in areas which are not allowed for public for safety purpose.

A packed crowd cheered, whistled and captured moments in their mobile phones as fireworks filled the sky near Red Sea Mall on Eid Day.

It is noteworthy to mention that in the past many families from Jeddah and other parts had been traveling to Riyadh to witness famous fireworks display at Malaz stadium.

All major shopping malls in the city are also busy in receiving visitors. The furnished apartments in Jeddah also witnessed increased rush during the holidays.

Saudi Commission for Tourism and National Heritage (SCTH) has warned all furnished apartments and hotels not to hike prices and comply with rules with regards to pricing. It advised them to display the price on the notice board. If someone failed to do this then the public are urged to call the toll free telephone number 19988 to lodge a complaint.
