AMMAN — Dr. Abdul Aziz Sarhan, secretary general of International Organization for Relief, Welfare & Development (IOR) and director of the Muslim World League’s office in Rome, Italy, recently visited Syrian refugees’ camps and health care centers in Jordan under the guidelines of Dr. Mohammad bin Abdulkarim Al-Issa, secretary general of Muslim World League (MWL).

During his visit, he said: “With the worsening humanitarian crisis in Syria and an unremitting influx of refugees seeking safety in different countries, the sustainable provision of health and other essential services remains a major challenge, IOR is working hard to rescue people in distress through cooperation and support from the government and international organizations.”

Likewise, due to the hard living condition, many refugees suffer from several diseases, he said, adding IOR representative office in the Levant region implemented a medical campaign where hundreds of patients were checked and treated in addition to paying the necessary amounts needed for any surgeries.

Dr. Sarhan said that similar campaigns will be implemented continuously to relieve the largest possible number of refugees in Jordan and Lebanon. — SG
