RIYADH
— The Ministry of Commerce and Investment reported that the number of products that were on sale during the month of Ramadan was 1.8 million, Al-Watan newspaper reported.

The ministry ran an inspection campaign during the month of Ramadan and shut down 65 stores for commercial fraud. During the campaign, 2,669 food products were seized for being unsuitable for human consumption. The inspectors also closed down 20 stores and warehouses for multiple violations. A total of 460 violations notices were issued.

During the campaign, the inspectors visited a total of 6,419 stores.

The ministry has an application that showcases all of the sales taking place in the Kingdom. A number of companies put up fake advertisements and the app helps citizens and residents from filtering out false ads.
