JEDDAH
— Pakistan’s world-renowned calligrapher Mohammed Qamar Sultan said, “My desire is to present the world’s longest 2,000 meters Qur’an-e-Pak,” which he completed recently, to Saudi Arabia.

The width of the world’s longest Qur’an-e-Pak is 114 inches, with the version having ten lines, with every line containing three chapters, according to Sultan.

He was talking to the media representatives and distinguished members of Pakistani community at a reception organized by Choudhry Mohammed Ayub a veteran businessman and sports person in his honor at Salt & Paper restaurant here recently.

Qamar Sultan, who was in Saudi Arabia to perform Umrah and visit Madinah, had the honor of writing a complete version of the hand-written Holy Qur’an on the flag of Saudi-Arabia and presenting it to the Kingdom’s Ambassador in Pakistan Ali Bin Awad Al-Aseri for the then King Abdullah on Sept. 23, 2005, to mark the celebration of Saudi National Day for the first time.

He also had hand-written Holy Qur’an on portrait of stamp of Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) and had presented it to the then King Abdullah in December 2005. Besides these he has written Holy Qur’an on portraits of Makkah-tul-Mukkarama, tomb of Khizra of Prophet’s Mosque and world’s smallest size (1 x 1.5 x 3 cm). The weight of the smallest Qur’an is 10 grams and the quality is so good that it can be read by a naked eye without any aid of a lens.

He said, “I am also writing the Holy-Qur’an on flags of different OIC countries, and will be presenting it to the respective governments on completion of these flags.”

Since 2003, I have written the Holy-Qur’an on flags of countries of OIC and presented to the head of that country with the message, “Gather at a platform of Islamic Atomic Super Power Pakistan and create awareness that Islam is a religion of peace.”

Sultan said, “The Assistant Secretary General of OIC at that time, Ezzat Kamil Mufti, appreciated and admired the idea of the Holy Qur’an inscribed flags being presented to the nations as treasures and also called me a Ambassador of Peace.”

Sultan said that many countries have appreciated my skills an awarded me at numerous events but unfortunately the government of Pakistan has yet to recognize my effort and had yet not honored my art or awarded me till now.

Earlier, host Ayub Choudhry gave an introduction of Qamar Sultan’ s life and art. He said the Government College University, Faisalabad, awarded him with a lifetime achievement award in April of 2018. The Higher Education Commission (HEC) of Pakistan and Government College University, Faisalabad, had given him the Trainer award in October 2017. He got Cholistan Award from the Islamia University, Bahawalpur, Pakistan, on April 14, 2012.

On Dec. 15, 2010, at the time of National Day of Republic of Kazakhstan, he presented the hand-written Holy Qur’an on flag of Kazakhstan to the Ambassador of Kazakhstan for President Nursultan Nazarbayev. At the request of Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Brunei the hand-written Holy Qur’an on flag of Brunei Darussalam was presented to the High Commission of Brunei at the time of National Day of Brunei on Feb. 23, 2010, for the Sultan and Prime Minister of Brunei Darussalam.

On May 25, 2009, at the time of National Day of Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, he presented the hand-written Holy Qur’an on flag of Jordan to the Ambassador of Jordan deputed in Pakistan for King Abdullah II.

His calligraphy has been displayed in Convention Center Gallery at the time of 34th Session of the Islamic Conference of Foreign Ministers Islamabad on May 15–17, 2007. The different countries of OIC requested him to write the Holy Quran on their flags and logo of OIC.
