RIYADH — The Saudi Embassy in Dar es Salaam is finalizing arrangements to airlift a set of Tanzanian conjoined twins to Riyadh following a royal decree issued to separate and treat them at the state expense.

A delegation from the embassy visited the twins at Muhimbili National Hospital in Dar es Salaam. They were received by the hospital’s director as well as the twins’ mother.

The delegation reviewed medical reports of the twins and made arrangements for their evacuation to Riyadh in coming days for the separation surgery.

The Tanzanian government has welcomed the Saudi Arabian gesture and praised the Kingdom’s pioneering humanitarian role, the Saudi Press Agency reported. — SG/SPA
