RIYADH — One security officer and an expatriate were martyred in a drive-by shooting at a security checkpoint in Buraidah, which came under attack by three terrorists, of whom two were killed and one was hurt in security personnel firing.
An Interior Ministry security spokesman said that a checkpoint on Buraidah-Tarafiyah Road in Buraidah, Al-Qassim Province, came under gunfire from three terrorists riding in a 2018 model Hyundai Elantra at 3.45 p.m. Sunday.
Security personnel, manning the checkpoint, returned fire, resulting in the killing of two of the terrorists while the third was injured and taken to hospital.
Meanwhile, Warrant Officer First Class Sulaiman Abdulaziz Al-Abdullateef and a male Bangladeshi expatriate were martyred, Saudi Press Agency quoted the security spokesman as stating Sunday.
The security authorities have begun investigations on the crime and any new developments would be announced, the spokesman added. — SPA
