Over 118,000 teachers enroll in summer training programs

RIYADH
— As many as 118,089 male and female teachers from the departments of education in various regions have enrolled in 4,297 summer training programs being organized by the Ministry of Education.

The Department of Boys Education in Riyadh, with 5,469 trainees, has the largest presence in the programs followed by the Department of Boys Education in Dammam with 4,618 trainees.

The Department of Girls Education in Riyadh came third with 3,466 women teachers participating.

As many as 50,306 men and women teachers have opted to join the course on teaching skills while14,308 chose the program on educational environment.

The course on command and management attracted a total of 10,534 male and female teachers wishing to polish their management skills.

The ministry said it was aiming to further qualify the teachers so as to improve the output from schools.

The ministry said it wanted to invest the summer vacation of teachers in something useful to them as well as their students.

The ministry promised the teachers who have joined the summer training courses with incentives and privileges including the opportunity to teach in Saudi schools in foreign countries, enabling them to do their post-graduate studies in Saudi universities or abroad within the scholarship program.
