RIYADH — The Royal Saudi Air Defense Forces (RSADF) intercepted and destroyed a ballistic missile on Thursday morning fired by Iran-backed Houthi militias from Yemeni territories, specifically Saadah city, targeting the city of Jazan, the official spokesman of the Coalition Forces (The Coalition for Supporting Legitimacy in Yemen) Col. Turki Al-Malki stated.

The RSADF detected and monitored the launching of the ballistic missile from Yemeni territories towards the Kingdom at 10:50 a.m. The missile, which was targeting Jazan city, was deliberately launched to target civilian populated areas. No injuries were reported as the RSADF successfully intercepted and destroyed it, Col. Al-Malki said.

Col. Al-Malki added that this hostile action by Iran-backed terrorist Houthi militias proves the continued involvement of the Iranian regime in supporting Houthi armed militias with qualitative capabilities in a flagrant and explicit defiance of UN Security Council resolutions 2216 and 2231 in order to threaten the security of Saudi Arabia, the region and the world.

Launching ballistic missiles towards densely populated cities and villages is contrary to the international humanitarian law, Al-Malki stressed. — SPA
