163 new lawyers issued licenses

MAKKAH
— The Justice Ministry has announced that it has confirmed a new batch of 163 lawyers including 24 women.

The ministry also said it had renewed the licenses of 28 lawyers and rejected 37 applications for licenses including five from women lawyers.

According to the department for lawyers in the ministry, there are 5,364 licensed lawyers in the Kingdom including 304 women lawyers as of June 2018.

The department said the ministry revoked the licenses of 19 lawyers including one woman after they were found to have committed various violations.

It said the total number of lawyers who received registrations during the current year was 745, consisting of 626 men and 119 women.
