RIYADH
– A Saudi oil tanker came under an “Iranian-Houthi” terrorist attack in international waters, west of the Port of Hodeidah, which is controlled by the terrorist Iranian-Houthi militias. The attack failed due to the immediate intervention of the Coalition’s fleet.

The tanker sustained minimal damages as a result of this terrorist attack, Saudi Press Agency (SPA) quoted Col. Turki Al-Malki, official spokesman of the Coalition to Restore Legitimacy in Yemen as stating Wednesday morning.

Col. Al-Malki stressed: “This terrorist attack is a dangerous threat to the freedom of navigation and international trade in the Red Sea and via the Straits of Bab-El-Mandeb, which might result in environmental and economic losses.”

He added: “The continuation of such attempts proves the real threat of these militias and those supporting it to regional and international security. The Port of Hodeidah is still the launching pad for terrorist attacks.”

Col. Al-Malki reaffirmed: “The Joint Forces Command of the Coalition has and will always implement all security and precautionary measures to sustain safety and security of freedom of navigation and international trade in the Red Sea and the Straits of Bab-El-Mandeb. The Joint Forces Command will continue its core role in maintaining stability and security in Yemen and contributing to protecting regional and international security and economy.”

Col. Al-Malki reiterated the importance of handing over Hodeidah City and Port to the Legitimate Government of Yemen, as that will put an end to the Houthi militias’ use of the city and port as a military base to launch terrorist attacks against maritime lanes and international trade.

Meanwhile, Bahri Arsan Holding (Bahri) announced in a statement on Wednesday that one of its VLCCs had an incident on Wednesday while sailing in the Red Sea. The VLCC suffered minor damage and no human injuries or environmental damage have been reported. – SG
