Electricity bills for July to be delayed

Saudi Gazette report

JEDDAH —
The Saudi Electricity Company (SEC) has announced that the electricity bills for the month of July will be issued by Aug. 9.

The Electricity and Cogeneration Regulatory Authority asked the company to release the electricity bills before Aug. 9 and allow consumers a seven-day period to pay their bills.

The authority said it was updating its database and improving its system for more efficient services.

The authority said there will be no extra charge for the delayed bill.

The bill will be for electricity consumption during the month of July and will not include the few days of August.

Last month SEC issued a statement that higher electricity bills for June were due to the increased use of ACs.

The company said there has been approximately 70 percent increase in electricity consumption in May and June because of the hot season.

It called on its subscribers to report any complaints on their bills by contacting the company’s Call Center, its website or Twitter account.

SEC now issues bills to all its nine million subscribers on the 28th of every Gregorian month in line with a royal decree issued in this regard.

SEC also asked its subscribers to take advantage of the electronic channels for communication.

These channels include its subscriber care account on Twitter (@alkahrabacare), Subscriber Service Center via the unified number 920001100, and text messages (SMS) via the unified number 500120 on all mobile phone networks in the Kingdom.
