JEDDAH — An Air India plane was forced to return to the airport here on Sunday after developing a technical snag in mid-air. The indirect flight was en route to Hyderabad before flying to Mumbai.

The passengers of Air India flight AI-966 suffered delays after delays from the time of the Saturday night take off. After a delay in take off, the Hyderabad bound flight, after an hour in midair, had to return to Jeddah’s King Abdulaziz International Airport due to a technical snag.

The passengers were shifted to various hotels in the city on Sunday morning and Air India is working to get the plane airworthy in order to send those disembarked passengers home.

An Air India official confirmed the flight encountered technical snag.

“We were scared when the aircraft experienced problem and the pilot asked us to take the emergency landing positions,” a passenger said.

Passengers are now waiting anxiously to fly back home and are repeatedly inquiring the new time of their flight.
