Senior Saudi, Yemeni officials discuss humanitarian and war-front situations

RIYADH — Dr. Abdullah Al-Rabeeah, advisor at the Royal Court and supervisor general of King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center (KSRelief), held talks with Yemeni Minister of Human Rights Mohammed Askar in Riyadh on Thursday.

Dr. Al-Rabeeah briefed the Yemeni minister on the relief and humanitarian works provided by KSRelief for the Yemeni people. He noted that the total projects of the center in Yemen reached 274, covering all governorates.

During the meeting, they discussed humanitarian and human rights situations in Yemen, in particular the serious violations being committed by Houthi militias against civilians which amount to war crimes, such as the bombing of wells and water stations, and shelling of residential areas which led to killing and injuring of hundreds of civilians, including women and children. Their talks also figured violation of human rights conventions, particularly with regard to the recruitment of children and placing them in battlefields as human shields.

Meanwhile, Yemen’s Chief of Staff Maj. Gen. Taher Al-Aqeeli met with Saudi Joint Forces Chief of Staff Maj. Gen. Ahmad Al-Shahri in Marib on Thursday. They discussed the latest developments on the warfront and the efforts being made by the Yemeni National Army in confronting the Houthi militias with the support of the Saudi-led Arab Coalition to restore legitimacy in Yemen.

They also reviewed the coordination and cooperation mechanisms and means of enhancing them by taking advantage of the capabilities and human cadets of Saudi Arabia and other Coalition countries in reinforcing the legitimate forces and their combating capabilities. Al-Aqeeli said the Yemeni people and their armed forces would remain grateful to members of the Saudi-led Coalition Forces for their sincere support in the battle with the Iranian-funded Houthi terrorist group.

Maj. Gen. Al-Aqeeli and Maj. Gen. Al-Shahri visited the battlefront of the Seventh Military Zone in Naham, east of Sanaa. Al-Shahri offered greetings of Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman, Crown Prince Muhammad Bin Salman, deputy premier and minister of defense, and the Joint Forces Command for the great victories achieved by the Yemeni National Army in Saadah, Hajjah, Baidaa and other battlefronts and military sectors. He also extended full support of the Coalition in the battle to defeat the putschist and restore legitimacy in Yemen.
