JAZAN
— A Saudi has accused Baish General Hospital for causing the death of his son. Ulais Al-Hakami claimed that the hospital staff did not wire the machine properly to the body of his son, Mosa, during a kidney dialysis session.

Official spokesman of Jazan Health Affairs, Nabeel Ghawi, said that last Thursday, the victim had come to the hospital for kidney dialysis session. The nursing team noticed the pressure of the vein decreasing from the area where the blood is extracted for dialysis. They found severe bleeding in the area of the hand where the needle was injected. The victim underwent medical treatment to revive him but with no luck. The Jazan health central committee that is supervising kidney dialysis centers notified the related authorities to complete procedures to transfer the case to the Health Shariah Committee.

“I drove my son to the kidney dialysis center at Baish Hospital. The nurse began connecting my son to the kidney dialysis machine but did not inject the needle properly in his vein. The blood was getting out from the machine to the bed and she did not notice. After three hours she came back and then discovered that the kidney dialysis machine was not connected properly. She then left and did not come back. Other doctors and nurses came to my son and tried to revive him but with no luck because he was drained of blood. My son was handicapped and he could not walk. I request the Health Ministry to form a committee to investigate the case and bring justice and punish those who were responsible for the death of my son," Al-Hakami told Okaz/Saudi Gazette.

The kidney dialysis center, according to Ghawi, is an isolated unit from Baish hospital and is operated by a private company.
