Saudi Gazette report
JEDDAH — Adel Airlines has announced openings for 20 Saudi women to work with it as air hostesses, Al-Hayat newspaper reported on Wednesday.
The airlines, which was established in 2016, said it also has 15 job opportunities for Saudi men to work as stewardesses.
The company said the applicant women should be Saudi nationals aged between 23-30.
It said applications for the jobs started on Wednesday and would remain open until Sept. 30 via its website.
The company said the women applicants should be holders of at least a diploma degree and should not be less than 160 centimeters in height.
It said the applicants should speak and write good English and should have swimming skills for about 50 meters at least.
This, however, is not the first time Saudi women have been joining the air industry. The General Authority for Civil Aviation (GACA) has recently disclosed that five Saudi women had obtained pilot licenses.
It said this license would enable its carrier to work with the private and commercial air companies.
GACA said one Saudi woman had obtained a license of "private pilot" which would enable the carrier to practice flying as a hobby but not to make it a profession.
The authority started a training program in March for Saudi women to be air controllers.
It said 12 Saudi women were accepted in this program which would culminate in their permanent appointment.
The program was a joint venture between the Saudi Academy for Air Aviation and the Saudi Air Service Company.
According to GACA, Hanadi Al-Hindi was the first Saudi woman to obtain a private pilot license about five years ago.
