RIYADH — Prince Faisal bin Bandar, governor of Riyadh region, graced the Mexican national day ceremony at the residence of Mexican Ambassador on the occasion of the 208th Anniversary of the Independence of Mexico. Upon his arrival, he was received by Ambassador of Mexico Alfredo Miranda.

The ceremony focused on the re-enactment of the “Cry of Dolores”, a historical event that happened in small town of Dolores, Mexico, on the morning of Sept. 16, 1810, when Mexico´s founding father, Miguel Hidalgo y Costilla, called the people to arms, marking the beginning of the Independence of Mexico.

The National Day celebration was a Mexican-style “fiesta” full of colors, music and traditional outfits. Guests were delighted by the authentic Mexican food prepared by renowned chef Eduardo Perez.

For the first time in the Kingdom, Saudi officials, members of the diplomatic corps and the Mexican community had the opportunity to see a live performance of a Mexican folkloric Mariachi band, a music style inscribed as UNESCO´s Intangible Cultural Heritage.
