SuperClásico matches in Riyadh and Jeddah

RIYADH — The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia will host the SuperClásico Championship between the Saudi Arabian, Iraqi, Brazilian and Argentinian national teams in Riyadh and Jeddah between Oct. 11 and Oct. 16.

A number of friendly international matches between the national teams were planned after the announcement of the Chairman of General Sports Authority and the President of the Saudi Arabian Olympic Committee, Turki Al-Asheikh, to host the SuperClásico with the participation of the Saudi Arabian, Iraqi, Brazilian and Argentinian national football teams as part of a series of sporting events organized by the General Sports Authority all across the Kingdom to enrich the culture of sports locally and to develop it accordingly to the objectives of Vision 2030.

The capital, Riyadh, started two days ago to welcome the delegations of the participanting teams in the SuperClásico.

Juventus star striker Paulo Dybala was among the Argentinian players who arrived in Riyadh, along with Roberto Pereyra (Watford) and goalkeeper Sergio Romero (Manchester United).

They were joined by other players, except Barcelona superstar Lionel Messi, who opted to stay out of the squad following the World Cup setback in Russia.

The first friendly match will be on this Thursday between the Iraqi national team and its Argentinian counterpart in Prince Faisal Bin Fahd Stadium. On the following day, Friday, the Saudi Arabian national team will face the Brazilian team in King Saud University Stadium.

On Monday (Oct. 15) the Saudi national team will play against its Iraqi counterpart in the KSU Stadium. On Tuesday (Oct. 16) both the Argentinian and Brazilian teams will head to Jeddah to play against each other in King Abdullah Sports City.

The tickets are available via the website sauditickets.sa and tickets in the mentioned stadiums.

General Sports Authority and the Saudi Football Federation have finalized the preparations for the SuperClásico in Jeddah and Riyadh. — SG
