RIYADH — Crown Prince Muhammad Bin Salman, deputy premier and minister of defense, received US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo at Al-Yamamah Palace in Riyadh on Tuesday.
During the meeting, they reviewed the historical relations between the two countries, the latest developments in the region and joint efforts being exerted towards them.
“We are strong and old allies. We face our challenges together,” the Crown Prince said as he warmly welcomed Pompeo at the palace.
They also “agreed on the importance of a thorough, transparent, and timely investigation that provides answers”.
The audience was attended by Prince Khalid Bin Salman, Saudi ambassador to the USA, Minister of State and Cabinet Member Dr. Musaed Bin Mohammed Al-Aiban, Minister of Foreign Affairs Adel Al-Jubeir and Chief of General Intelligence Khalid Bin Ali Al-Humaidan.
Pompeo was received on arrival at King Salman Air Base Airport by Al-Jubeir, Prince Khalid Bin Salman, and Chargé d’Affaires of the US Embassy in the Kingdom, Christopher Henzel.
Pompeo had earlier met Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman and had reviewed the historical relationships between the two countries.— SG/SPA
