JAZAN — Gen. Muhayya Al-Otaibi is the commander of the Border Guards in the southern border province Jazan. The general hosted Okaz/Saudi Gazette to visit a number of security posts on the Kingdom’s border with Yemen.

“Anyone visiting the southern border can see with their own eyes the continuous victories of our soldiers and their sacrifices in order to preserve our sovereignty and integrity as well as to ensure peace and security for citizens. The outlawed Al-Houthi militias, supported by Iran, are breathing their last,” Gen. Al-Otaibi told Okaz/Saudi Gazette.

“The future generation will speak with pride about our victories and sacrifices in defending out country and defeating our enemy and teaching them a lesson they will never forget. They will serve as an example to anyone trying to tamper with our security and stability,” he said.

Al-Otaibi said the Saudi forces would forever remain strong with its soldiers who are defending the border.

He said Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman and Crown Prince Muhammad Bin Salman, deputy prime minister and minister of defense, were following up step by step on what was happening on the southern border. They continuously stressed the need to provide the soldiers and their families with all their requirements and constantly inquired about their wellbeing. “This is one of the reasons behind our huge victories against the Houthi militias,” Al-Otaibi said.

“The morale of the Saudi soldiers is very high and anyone visiting them will see it. This is especially because they know they are defending the land of the two holy mosques,” said the general.

Al-Otaibi said the Border Guard, like any other security wing, was supported with the latest equipment that can monitor and detect enemy movements day and night. “Saudi soldiers are receiving on-the-site training and they are ready now more than ever to fight any battle under any conditions and circumstances,” he said.

“The Al-Houthi militia faced terrible defeats and they retreated to their mountain caves. In every checkpoint there are thousands of heroic stories to be told about our soldiers,” Al-Otaibi added.

From Jazan city, this reporter moved to Al-Dayer sector, which is around 120 kilometers away, accompanied by the head of media affairs at the Border Guard, Maj. Amer Al-Shahrani. Throughout the trip, Al-Shahrani stressed the importance of the media’s role in providing detailed information to the public. He said, “People here look with pride at the uniform of our soldiers and always pray to Allah to grant the Saudi army victory over the militia.”

Okaz/Saudi Gazette met with a number of people in the region on the way and they all agreed that they were leading a normal life, which did not change at all. Schools and markets are open and working normally as if there is no war.

People said that they slept comfortably at night knowing for a fact that the brave Saudi soldiers would protect them from all attacks by the enemy, including missile fire.

A number of soldiers spoke about the heroic battle of Al-Sarfah, which showed the fortitude of the Saudi soldier when 36 Al-Houthi militiamen attempted to sneak in through from across the border.

They were met by a group of only six Saudi soldiers, who managed to defeat them and force them to retreat. In the battle they killed four enemy fighters and captured a number of others. They also seized a large cache of ammunition left behind the Al-Houthis when they fled the battlefront.

Generations will talk about our victories with pride, says Border Guard general
