Riyadh —
A campaign for five-day child helpline was launched on Sunday in all government and private schools for boys and girls by the General Administration for Education in Riyadh region.

Pupils under 18 years of age can call the toll free number 116111 to seek advice on any problems they are facing.

If necessary, the problems will be taken up by the pertinent authorities.

In the endeavor to improve services the Ministry of Education monitors the implementation of child rights including the protection and care of pupils, as well as entering into partnerships with local institutions concerned with children and international child helpline organizations.

The campaign, which started on Sunday, will end on Thursday.

It includes films and printed materials.

Director of the School Boys’ Guidance Administration Abdul Rahman Al-Subayyil said that campaign informs pupils about the toll free helpline number which provides consultation and support maintaining privacy and confidentiality.

It also enlightens teachers and administrators about the importance of realizing that the child helpline has been allocated for children and not just for children subjected to violence.

Director of the Schoolgirls’ Guidance Administration Sahar Bint Attiya said awareness about the helpline will be created through the school broadcasting program, lectures and workshops for guardians, social media etc.
