When silence is shame

When silence is shame

Ahmad Awadh

Okaz

HOW can we justify the silence on issues concerning our country from those who used to speak in the past on every matter? This would have been acceptable if such people did not speak at all in the past in the first place.

How can we justify the silence of those who used to create too much noise on so many issues and participate in every debate on petty issues in the face of this ongoing vicious campaign against the Kingdom? What do we call this silence?

Silence is a given right, if it is a part of person›s nature and his normal behavior. As for those who used to appear on social media defending rights and making opinions on every issue big or small, in favor or against, how can we justify their silence in front of this vicious campaign? They are hiding behind their silence.

I am not trying to incite people against each other, but these are legitimate questions that need honest answers. Saudis in villages and cities, men and women, work day and night, each in his own right providing an idea, writing an opinion article, sending a tweet, translating news and preparing reports.

The Saudis in this epic war surprised the Western media by this great loyalty and their high awareness about their country›s interests and its national security. This is why this absence and passive silence at a time when we should have stood by our government is intriguing.

Why do these people turn into silent walls and do not feel what the country is facing? These days are glorious days where Saudi Arabia and the Saudi people are creating history. Why are they not participating to share with their countrymen this honor?

When these hard days are over and we emerge victorious, we will ask them a simple question: Where were you?

I will tell them that we do not need any justifications from their side because we were busy creating a new and great Saudi Arabia, which is more strong and beautiful. This crisis revealed that such people care only about their interests and they do not care about the country and the dangers it is facing.

Lastly, there is no alternative to our country. There is no neutrality in its causes, no matter what. As for them, they should continue to live in their shameful silence.

As for those who used to appear on social media defending rights and making opinions on every issue big or small, in favor or against, how can we justify their silence in front of this vicious campaign? They are hiding behind their silence.
