Saudi Gazette report

JAZAN —
In the past nine months, hospitals in Jazan received 1,325,422 emergency cases, while 640,288 outpatients and 45,836 inpatients were given treatment.

The hospitals also performed 458,711 radiography exams, 4,940,783 laboratory tests, 15,889 delivery cases, 17,544 surgeries, including 17 cardiac surgeries, 3,950 one-day surgeries, and 715 heart catheterization, in addition to 57,233 dialysis sessions.

On the other hand, primary healthcare centers in the province provided essential medical care and medications to 2,901,107 outpatients, while cases that required specialist care or hospitalization were sent to referral hospitals.

These steps come in line with the Health Ministry’s efforts to achieve its objectives in the National Transformation Program (NTP) 2020 in terms of improving healthcare provided before hospitalization and at emergency and ICU departments of major hospitals.

This is also among the objectives of the Saudi Vision 2030 for improving the quality of both preventive and therapeutic healthcare services.

Meanwhile, the Pharmaceutical Care Department of King Abdulaziz Specialist Hospital in Taif has successfully completed the national project for dispensing antibiotics, antifungal and antiviral drugs.

This step comes as a part of a plan to develop the therapeutic services provided by the department.

The medication tracking system between departments has also been upgraded. The department established a drug information center for health practitioners and patients, while it set up an in-house pharmacy with automated drug dispensing for inpatients.
