ARAR — The Arar Port Development Project on the Saudi-Iraq border is expected to generate massive economic opportunities including lucrative job offers for Saudi nationals.

Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman laid the foundation stone for the project during his recent tour of the Northern Border Region, which witnessed the inauguration of a total of 65 development projects.

Upon the King’s arrival, a multimedia show was presented highlighting the future projects of the Northern Border Region, including the port project on both sides of the Saudi-Iraq border.

This huge development project holds strategic importance and will be developed over an area of 1,666,771 square meters, with a total value SR259,441,433.

The project will include a logistic zone that will serve as the Kingdom’s northern economic gate, connecting the Kingdom with Europe and Asia, boosting trade relations between Saudi Arabia and Iraq, and attracting local and regional investments. It is also expected that this logistic zone will attract qualitative industrial investments that will further enhance the Kingdom’s economic position.

The project will revamp and establish customs and immigration offices on both sides of the border to better serve passengers, administrative buildings for security sectors, and other customs related buildings. A new trade route network will also be established in accordance with the latest international specifications linking the zone’s facilities, which will further boost the trade exchange and economic ties between the two countries.

The project is expected to generate massive economic opportunities and valuable employment offers for Saudis thus serving as a hub for innovation, creativity, investment and motivation. — SG
