RIYADH — 20-Vision-20 won its second straight and third overall Best Team of the Week award, the most of any team thus far, during the eighth session in the Almarai-FBGR Tuesday Night Family Bowling League 17th Conference at the Universal Bowling Center here.

In a singularly impressive performance, the all-Saudi 20-Vision-20 bowling team pushed 22 points and total pinfalls of 4,012 past Almarai, which crashed back to earth after a high of beating two-time defending champion Unica the previous week.

Unica could have recovered from that first league defeat. Instead it was made to swallow another bitter pill of defeat, administered by Alsalam Strikers, who hammered out a 12-10 victory on total pinfalls of 3,629-3,625 in their match.

IBG Eagles did recover from the defeat by 20-Vision-20 in the last outing when they crushed Team To Beat 16-9 (3,665-3,635).

Nomercies trounced Talk and Strikes 16-6 (3,685-3,486) while struggling Bowlnatics defeated Lion’s Den 13-9 (3,603-3,560).

Ahmed Yasser Abulreesh and Mohammad Khalid shot 777 and 774 respectively at the vanguard of the 20-Vision-20’s eight-man rotation.

The rest in the rotation each shared two-game totals — Ahmad A. Abulreesh tallied 455, Bandar Al-Yalah had 436 and Khalid Al-Swandi 429 while Saleh Al-Ahmi made 412, Motaeb Al-Basi 367 and Mohammed Abulreesh 362.

Irene Aril was 9 pins short of 800 while leading the Eagles with Ed Cruz on 751 and Mohammed Alyaba on 729. Arnold Jesena added 719 and Ahmad Al-Qarquosh 675 as the Eagles narrowed the gap on league leader Unica, which found saving grace after Stephen Solomon was named Best Bowler of the Week. Scratch bowler Solomon hit the high series of 832 on scratch games of 169, 202, 214 and 247.

Over at Nomercies Jonathan Avenido fired the top score of 722. Joel Lambo tossed in 654 to go with the 571 by Abdullah Amoudi, 544 by Ariel Alluso, 470 by Jobert Pomado, 381 by Allan Doruelo and 343 by Vic Barrazona.

The Bowlnatics trio of Butch Espinosa, Rico Feria and Fathi Abdulaziz returned 773, 739 and 733 in that order. The other contributors to the team cause were Edwin Pecson 690, Ruel Pingol 503 and Mar Reyes 165.

Two bowling families carried the Alsalam load against Unica. The Valencias, Alfred and Melay, showed the way on 805 and 726. Husband-and-wife Mario Rivera and Susie Rivera had 341 and 403, numbers that their son Joseph bettered with 721. Rollie Cleofe contributed 633 to round out the Alsalam scoring.

Team standings (Week 8):

1. Unica 136 points 2. IBG Eagles 126 3. 20-Vision-20 125 4. Nomercies 124 5. Talk and Strikes 110 6. Almarai 107 7. Lion’s Den 84 8. Alsalam Strikers 81 9. Bowlnatics 66 10. Team To Beat 55
