RIYADH — The Saudi-led Coalition to support legitimacy in Yemen rejects any exploitation of humanitarian situation in Yemen to achieve any political or military gains or any other goals, Dr. Abdullah Al-Rabeeah, adviser at the Royal Court and general supervisor of the King Salman Center for Relief and Humanitarian Work (KSRelief) said on Sunday.

“The Coalition, with the Kingdom and the United Arab Emirates in the forefront, has been providing humanitarian support to the Yemeni people. The Coalition states have so far extended financial assistance worth $18 billion to Yemen and its people,” he said.

Dr. Al-Rabeeah made the remarks in a joint press conference with the UN Undersecretary General for Humanitarian Affairs and Emergency Relief Coordinator Mark Lowcock in Riyadh on Sunday.

Al-Rabeeah said the Coalition’s support to Yemen aims to facilitate the entry of humanitarian assistance, including the opening of the port of Jazan and land crossings in the interest of the Yemeni people.

He called upon the United Nations and the international community to put an end to the Houthis’ obstruction of distribution of the humanitarian aid in Yemen. — SG/SPA
