JEDDAH —
The Public Prosecution began investigations into a street fight in Al-Hamadaniya district of Jeddah last week.

The fight resulted in the death of a 25-year-old man and severe injury to one of his relatives who received multiple stab wounds. Two others sustained mild injuries.

Police arrested five suspects aged between 20 and 25 years following the fight.

Forensic teams are still gathering evidence and examining evidence collected from the scene.

According to informed sources, the fight started over a dispute over parking space in front of an abaya shop, which belonged to the dead victim.

The man protested when his would-be attackers came and parked their cars in front of his store saying their action harmed his business.

The relative of the victim engaged the men in a dialogue and tried to reason out with them. When all attempts failed, they contacted the police, according to a statement given by a relative of the victim to the police.

In the heat of the argument, one of the men suddenly took out a knife and started stabbing the victim multiple times.

The man continued to attack the victim, who received stabs under his left armpit, which killed him instantly. Police seized the murder weapon and recorded testimonies from witnesses on the scene. The victim's body is at King Fahd Hospital morgue. All the injured victims were receiving treatment at the same hospital.

The dead victim was a final year university student. The family of the victim told Al-Madina newspaper that they did not know when his body would be released for burial.

One of the injured victims is a 42-year-old Saudi, who works in the military sector. He was reported to be in stable condition while the other two injured victims remained in the intensive care unit.

According to sources, the families of the attackers and the victims both lived in the same building where the abaya store is located.
