IEP-SAC holds technical seminar in Riyadh

RIYADH
— The Institution of Engineers Pakistan, Saudi Arabian Centre (IEP-SAC) organized its 50th technical seminar at a local Restaurant Banquet Hall here recently.

The topic of the presentation was “FirePASS – A Revolution in Fire Prevention & Life Safety”. The chief guest on the occasion was Dr. Farrukh Aslam Khan, who currently serves as an Associate Professor at the Center of Excellence in Information Assurance (CoEIA), King Saud University, Riyadh. He is also the founding director of Wireless Networking and Security (WiNGS) research group at FAST.

The program started with the recitation of verses from the Holy Qur’an by Eng. Sajid Mushtaq. The General Secretary of IEPSAC, Eng. Asim Siddiqui welcomed the chief guest, the keynote speaker and all guests on behalf of IEP-SAC to the event. The convener of IEPSAC technical committee Eng. Prof. Dr. Rafiq Choudhry gave a brief introduction of the speaker Eng. Omer Aziz Idrees and called on him to make his presentation.

Idrees, with 12 years of experience in his professional field, gave a thought-provoking presentation on Fire Prevention & Life Safety.

While introducing the subject, Idrees pointed out that we live in a world with rapidly changing technology protocols. “Just in the last decade we have gone from conventional cell phones to smartphones and from conventional cars to electric cars. It is only natural that Fire prevention technology should aim to follow this shift and FirePass leads the innovation and presents the future of fire safety in its patented system for fire prevention,” he said.

He mentioned that the preferable install base for this product are data centers, warehouses, military installations, museums, vaults and electrical switch rooms to name a few. The presentation was followed by a question and answer session.

The Chief Guest Dr. Farrukh Aslam Khan, in his address, appreciated the presentation and admired the high caliber of Pakistani engineers who have earned good name for their motherland by sheer hard work, dedication, professional skill and contribution in the development of the Kingdom.

Chairman of IEP-SAC Eng. Syed Muhammed Iqbal expressed his gratitude to the Pakistani Embassy and the Ambassador for the continued patronage and support to IEP-SAC in achieving its objectives.

In his concluding remark, Iqbal recalled that the vision of IEP-SAC is to promote knowledge of science and engineering and to facilitate engineers sharing knowledge and experience to further enhance their capabilities.

He emphasized that the core achievement of IEP-SAC is the award of Scholarships to the needy engineering students in Pakistan and Azad Kashmir with the support of the engineering community. He urged the guests and fellow engineers to further extend their support to this noble cause.

The chairman appreciated the presentation of Engr. Omer Aziz Idrees and wished him good luck in pursuing new customers.

Iqbal extended his deep gratitude to Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman, Crown Prince Muhammad Bin Salman and his government for facilitating Pakistani engineers in contributing their vital role in the development of our brotherly country Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

The chairman further thanked to all Council members, fellow engineers, media personnel in playing important role in making the event successful.

In concluding session shields were presented to the keynote speaker Idrees, senior Eng. Sajid Mushtaq, who is moving back to Pakistan, and Dr. Javaid Iqbal of Urdu News who consistently supported the objectives of IEP-SAC and Pakistani community. — SG
