Cultural fount opens up after awesome activities at Janadriyah

RIYADH — The 33rd edition of the National Festival of Heritage and Culture that ended on Jan. 9 after 21 days of activities integrating culture, heritage, art, sport and entertainment was a great success.

Organized by the Ministry of National Guard in Janadriyah under the patronage of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman, the festival opened on Dec. 20, with the slogan “Faithfulness and Loyalty”.

In addition to the pavilions of various ministries, agencies and institutions, there was active participation from emirates, regions and governorates. There were dedicated pavilions for the GCC countries as well. The guest of honor at this year’s festival was Indonesia.

Thousands of visitors came to the festival daily throughout the 21-day event, which revisited the Kingdom’s history, its status, its achievements, its diverse cultures and the legacy of its people, and opened a window on its promising and prosperous future.

The Ministry of National Guard harnessed all its efforts and energies to organize this great annual event and to show it as an honorable aspect that reflects the culture and heritage of the Kingdom and its civilized face.

The 33rd edition of the festival witnessed extensive and extremely unique media coverage in which the details of the festival were broadcast live. As many as 150 television channels and 5,200 newspapers covered the event worldwide.

This year’s festival was attended by more than 150 government institutions and sectors through pavilions, heritage buildings and art exhibitions. The festival hosted the pavilions of the regions that share their past to revive the heritage of their parents and grandparents through special programs and events including folk shows, handicrafts, heritage collections, folk food, seminars and cultural activities, with the participation of more than 700 exhibitors from popular teams from Saudi Arabia, the UAE, Bahrain and Oman.

The participation of the United Arab Emirates, the Sultanate of Oman and the Kingdom of Bahrain, and the guest of honor Indonesia reflected the historical and cultural weight of the country. There was attendance by many ministers and cultural ambassadors, writers and dignitaries from all over the world.

The diverse and rich activities offered to the visitors of the festival this year left an unforgettable experience and memories of a national event that has increased the aesthetics of the national fabric of Saudi Arabia. — SG/AETOSWire
