MAKKAH —
The labor courts in the Kingdom issued as many as 1,860 rulings in the month of January, press reports said on Wednesday quoting statistics posted on the Justice Ministry’s electronic portal.

The ministry has started publishing statistics on labor disputes reaching the courts and the rulings issued on a monthly basis. It said publicizing the statistics was meant to promote transparency and spread judicial awareness.

The labor courts were recently established to tackle cases concerning disputes over work contracts, disciplinary measures taken by employers against their employees and other relevant issues.

As many as seven labor courts were established in the major cities including Riyadh, Makkah, Jeddah, Madinah, Dammam and others, in addition to 27 circuits in a number of general courts and nine labor circuits in the courts of appeal.
